Yesterday I played golf with my dad and my boy. After nine my boy went to his golf camp and my dad and I finished the 18. I played a flawless front nine, with 8 pars and one birdie. On the back I got to the 14th hole still at -1. 14 is a 440 yard uphill par four, the #1 handicap hole on that side. There's a giant tree in the middle of the fairway. You have the choice of threading it right or going to the fatter side left. I was feeling it so I bombed my driver right at the big tree and flew it over. My ball came to rest 140 out, 300 yard drive uphill. I had an uphill shot which I hit absolutely pure with a 9-iron. The ball ended up about 3 feet below the pin with a slight break right to left. I hit the putt pure and it entered the hole dead center with the perfect speed. That was the most pure golf hole I've ever played without a doubt. All three shots were perfect. Through 14 holes I was -2 and had a mistake free round. I made two mistakes after that and ended up shooting 73 after double bogeying the 18th hole. That being said I feel like I'm knocking on the door of some rounds in the 60's. Hopefully this Saturday at my local course's amateur will be one of them.
