I'm a newby to golf. Aside from being engaged to a golf professional, I have decided to give it a go myself; golf that is.
The fiance (The Gent) took me to the driving range a few weeks ago, gave me some instruction, and I was off and running, and hooked!
It was about 20 years ago when I last put club to ball and then I was probably too drunk to remember any of it, and way too young to appreciate the game; the effort and rewards.
Now that I am older (41) and somewhat wise and definitely sober I thought it was time to give it a whirl - you know, espeically since I recently accepted a marriage proposal from a golf pro. That, and the same old question over and over again, when I meet any of his new friends, "So, do you play golf?"
I do now! Well, technically I haven't yet. I'm still on the range for now. But I do love hitting the balls thus far and have even ventured out to the range all on my own. I even went one time during my lunch hour from work.
At any rate, I do look forward to learning a whole lot more and getting out there to practice and maybe one day even play a few holes. I'm still in the borrowing equipment beginner phase, and wearing my regular street tennis shoes on the range but The Gent did say something about having to go out now and buy some clubs for me soon! Heh. He mentioned that Powerbilt had a good starter set for women.
He also mentioned to me that since I've started to consistently hit the ball now, we will start working on distance. I think I picked it up pretty quickly but then again The Gent is an excellent instructor and very patient man. I do start taking regular, and official, lessons later in August from a different pro around town.
I hope to go hit some balls here in just a little bit. I do love it. I am totally hooked and I've only been to the range! Thanks for reading.
