KARMA 2.0 SUCKED. IT BLEW CHUNKS. There was no monthly feature and some very odd behaviors like requiring a comment which then appeared nowhere.
KARMA 2.0 HAS GOTTEN THE BOOT
I'm back to troubleshooting my original karma component. I've made a discovery which is likely a very relevant one, which is the IP addresses are not tracking and/or posting to the database. Most people's computers have IP addresses, like 234.349.333.958... They're like a fingerprint. The karma system is set to not allow one IP address to vote on a profile multiple times in 24 hours. That prevented people from registering 20 TGS accounts and awarding themselves karmas in order to claim prizes.
Since no IP's are being recorded (or posted to the db, not sure which yet), the karma system assumes that any votes are by the same IP and therefore won't allow anyone else to vote.
At least I'm getting closer... I've called for my pal Rich, who has helped me with programming probs I couldn't solve in the past to help.
