No Cink-ing Feeling Today E-mail

Stewart Cink has been criticized this year for being in contention going into the final day of a tournament, before faltering on the day four. That was not the case today in Cromwell, Conn., where he held off Tommy Armour III, and defending champion Hunter Mahan, to win the Travelers Championship. Stewart finished at 18-under, winning by one stroke over Armour and Mahan. I enjoy seeing Cink do well since he grew up only about an hour from where I live. He is consistently in the top ten at tournaments, but has not racked up a ton of wins and a major win has eluded him so far. With Tiger out for the rest of the year this may be Cink's best chance. Another Par Fore favorite, Bubba Watson, had his best finish of the season, 6th place. If you have a favorite golfer, not named Tiger Woods, this may be the chance someone needs to have a good stretch without having to chase Tiger.

Like you, I was glad to see Cink finally pull out a victory. He now is 3rd in the FedEx Cup race, just slightly behind Phil. And speaking of 'lefties,' since Phil blew it at the 2006 U.S. Open, I have been pulling for Watson, too! He's been a bit erratic of late; I think all the media coverage he got early had a negative effect on him. Hopefully, he'll get past that and break through.

As great as Tiger is, and as great as it will be to see him break every record known to golf (except maybe Lord Byron's 13 in a row), it will be more fun to see some of the new young players strut their stuff!
