What a nice day, weather wise, today was. After the 2+ inches of rain over the last 2 days, I wasn't sure how it would turn out today. Was cloudy this morning, and cleared by noon. The forecast was for 76-78 degrees (80% humidity) during my round today, tee time at 2:44pm, and a slight breeze. First tee jitters got me today, ball was flying straight by offline and left. Heard the ball rattle through a large oak and into the fairway bunker. Dang, wasn't hoping for a sand shot this early. Boogered a 7 iron, to get over bunker lip, about 25 yards and then tried a 5 iron to the green. Chunked that shot another 25 yards, guess I should use my putter at this rate. Another 7 iron came up short and right, which left a PW and 2 putts for starting 7 on the par 5 first. Good Grief! With that first one out of the way, settled down and hit a good drive, shorted my approach (again), PW and another 2 putts. This pretty much described the rest of the day. I've got to focus better on my approach shots, still being too timid about a full 100% swing, and mostly ending up short or worse. Even tried going 1 club longer than estimated, just trying to get closer to the green, and that didn't help. There were 2-3 approach shots I hit well and in flight I thought it was on the green. Nope, still short, the closest by about 3 yards. Oh well, at least I know what I'm working on this week at the range. Was mostly pleased with my short game, just a couple of chip shots were mis-hit, leaving lengthy first putts, but otherwise good. Putting got bad by the last few holes, as I was rushing and not pausing long enough for a decent read. Also, fatigue was setting in, need to add some kind of energy bar to my bag, to help get through the last 4-6 holes. Still beats even a good at work. Play well, everyone.
