Saturday, March 30, 2007 was the inaugural run of the "Full Metal Golf Invitational
". We set out at 07:30 a.m. on the River Oaks golf course in Ceres, CA. This is a par 58, but you get your dollar's worth out of it. Playing a twosome - threesome configuration we were not pressed for time, as we had nobody breathing down our necks behind us, nor did we have people even slower than us ahead of us. (always makes a round much more relaxing) Shep won the round, shooting an 81, Showtime, Lucky and I all threw down 83's....I think Steinie lost count...(c'mon Stein, learn to take a joke!) I shot a very inconsistant 83. I did birdie on 4 and 13, I parred on 3, 7, 8 and 15...unfortunately I tanked on the other 12 holes. Scattering 5's and a few 7's everywhere else on the course. My lobs weren't working as cleanly as usual, normally I am pretty consitant from 20 to 30 yards out, there was just somthing giving me a hitch, I couldn't work it out soon enough. It was a great day, it was forecast to rain, but it turned out to be overcast at the worst, with an occasional stiff breeze blowing up from the Tuolumne River. The five of us enjoyed ourselves, Shep won the "Golden Gopher" and he's got the four of us gunning for him next March.
