right on timePosted by golfboy in Untagged |
haven't played a whole lot of competitive golf this year, for a variety of reasons, but have played many, many holes of golf. for someone with a long history of number crunching disorder this has probably been a good thing. this is probably the first time in my life where i can make it through a round of golf without knowing exactly where my score is, how much i am owed (or owe) and what i need to shoot for the rest of the round to be satisfied. (I actually tried to press someone on saturday after the match was irretrievably lost...)
golf's a funny game - as my good buddy puts it "how would you like to play a game that you're only going to play up to your potential one out of every 4 or 5 times you play, is going to take you the better part of a day to complete and is going to cost you a lot of money?" this is the game we've chosen, and it ain't for sissies.
not starting to play until my mid-thirties has made me appreciate my time on golf courses a whole lot, as i feel like i missed out on a many years of golf experiences, when i was actually in far better physical condition and had young muscles that could have grooved a beautiful golf swing for life.
I COULDA BEEN A CONTENDA
all in all, though, i've been through enough in my half century here that no matter how a bad a day i'm having, as long as i'm having it on a golf course i'm doing something right.
