One KidPosted by cdman in Untagged |
I am no where close to one of the greatest golfers. I am no where close to even being a good golfer at this point. Those are beside the point though.
I was working the day before christmas, and a young boy (note I am still young as well) came into our Golf Galaxy. One of our managers told us about the boy. His father had passed away a couple years ago, and his mother does not care much for his extra curricular activities. His grandfather had gotten him involved in a first tee in our area. Just one of those kids that loves the game. We started hitting around with him in one of our simulators, and he started asking about having woods built for him since he had never had any. We talked to his grandfather who told us their financial situation which did not have any room for most of what we have in our store he could use. I, being the little packrat that I am, walked out to my care where I had my old clubs in still. These were simple started set clubs, but in much better condition than what First Tee had given him. Seeing the smile on his face when we brought the clubs in pretty much made all of our Christmas's a little brighter.
As I said, I am not one of the better golfers, but working in a golf store and being able to bring satisfaction to a kid like that. I would give up an extremely good game to be able to do that daily.
I haven't been on in a while thought that might be a good story to share with ya'll. Hope ya'll had a merry Christmas and a great new year
-Chris

| Great story-- and as they say in sports: "YOU DA MAN!" I, too, think The First Tee is a good organization but always needs a little help. That's why a portion of sales on my site is going to them-- check it out (www. perfectdayclub.com)and, perhaps some others might consider it, too! | |
