1st competitive round of the year, that is. i won ugly, with a very satisfying 26 putts, a fairly rusty short game otherwise, and all kinds of interesting things going on out there.

played my first full round of the year last week on wednesday at LACC, surrounded by members of the PGA Tour who were not participating in the pro-am. it was all fine on the range, where i may not swing purty, but i can hit it okay, and on the practice green, where i can get it close most of the time. but get out there trying to hit with a guy who made well over a million bucks playing golf last year, and who finished in the top ten of birdies made, and i was genuinely humbled. that's the great thing about our game, no matter what the freaking nyt says - we can go out there and actually PLAY WITH PROFESSIONALS. we will have our butts handed to us, but when's the last time you shot hoops with Kobe or had Schilling pitch to you?

so it was back into the wading pool with me this week, and i ended up netting a neat $26 profit on my investment on myself, plus my first W for the year.
