Hello golfers,
the season approaches. I am pretty lucky to be living here, in the middle of Scotland, as the weather is generally rather mild at this time of year allowing golf on the links courses without any of the 'winter greens' & 'mats' that are becoming more prevalent during this time of year.
On Saturday, 10th March, I played at the truly magnificent & World famous North Berwick West Links for the first time. The Old Course & Machrihanish have my heart but this links golf course runs them both really close. I will not go over the round shot by shot (sorry) but there are some photographs to view in My Album to give you a gist of what it is like. My round has been recorded in the Golf Tracker section for those who may want to view some statistics.
If any of the members of TGS are thinking of visiting Scotland for golf I would highly recommend this wonderful links golf course. It has history seeping out of every blade of grass and is a pure pleasure to play on. The staff were absolutely brilliant. The pro' re-studded my shoes and offerred advice, the Starter was welcoming & encouraging and the bar staff produced the beers! Brilliant.
I managed, to my surprise, to shoot a good 78. The wind (25-30mph) was in our faces for the first 9 holes & at our back for the return. My putting was at its best, 29, so that was the big contribution to the round.
Take a look at the pictures & imagine.............
Cheers, John.
