Golf Stretching For A Better Swing - Review
Written by Tony Korologos

Hooked on Golf Blog's golf fitness contributor Mike Pedersen has just released a new golf stretching DVD:

Golf Stretching for a Better Swing

I’m glad to hear that this disc is selling like mad, over 800 in the first week!

Mike is a veteran fitness trainer of 24+ years, the last 10 of which he’s been focused completely on golf. His golf fitness site, Perform Better Golf has been up and running for 6 years.

Improve your game

If you employ some of the over 40 minutes of golf stretches into your weekly routine, you will improve your game. You’ll increase your driving distance, your accuracy, your consistency and especially your endurance.

Pick your stretch

I found certain stretches to be of particular interest to me. I’m not the most flexible guy in the world, unless you think a 2x4 is flexible. The back stretches have proven to help me with my bad back and keeping it loose. I also found a stretch for a recurring problem I’ve had when I spend too much time behind the computer blogging articles like this one. The problem is a nasty knot right behind my left shoulder. Mike has a great stretch that nails that knot and helps me work it out.

The Perfect Grip - Golf Tips

Why is a neutral grip the best position to have your hands in on the club? Simple, a neutral grip requires no compensations throughout your swing to make solid square contact with the ball. Less manipulations leads to less cause for error in your golf swing.

Who wouldn’t want that?

A neutral grip is created when the two V’s made by your thumb and index fingers aims towards your right shoulder. As shown in this image here, these lines should be parallel. The interesting thing about the grip in the golf swing is that it always wants to return to the most natural position it can at impact. This position is a neutral grip.

This is why making your grip slightly stronger, or turning your hands to the right on the club will encourage a hook, as the neutral positions of the hands will cause the clubface to be slightly closed. Conversely a weaker grip (turned to the left) will encourage a slice.

So if you tend to slice, turn your hands slightly to the right, adopting a stronger grip. If you tend to hook, turn your hands slightly to the right. Use this quick fix on the range, and you'll be amazed at how easily you can manipulate your ball flight.
