Callaway Big Bertha and WareBird Balls 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I love 2-piece balls, I always have. I like a ball that will roll out on the green when I chip and stay within a 3 foot area when I hit an approach shot to the green. Being a member of the USGTF I decided to take advantage of my discount with Callaway to test their Big Berth and WarBird golf balls.

The WarBird golf ball is a straight distance ball with no real technology to it other than to go long. It has a standard dimple pattern as opposed to the HX technology the rest of the Callaway ball lineup has.

This ball will flat out go a mile! It is the longest ball I have ever hit and does exactly what I want it to around the green and from the fairway. If ever I short side myself around the green I find it hard to stop it close by design from the ball, but if I hit a shot that poorly I deserve a 5 foot putt for par!

The Big Bertha incorporates the HX dimple technology and is also very long. Not quite as long as the WarBird, but it has a softer feel to it and just a little more stopping power around the greens and from the fairway.

Overall I like the Warbird for its firmer feel and more roll on chip shots along with never having to guess weather or not the ball is going to rip back on full approach shots to the green.

The fact that you can get the WarBird with a Penn State logo on it makes the decision a lot easier too!

A golfing buddy of mine swears by the Warbird. I've used the Big Bertha, and I really like it. In fact, that is the only ball that I have ever purchased in a sleeve. I purchased a Maxfli Noodle Ice once, and liked that ball too, but around the green, I'd have to agree with the asessment that the Callaways have good feel around the green.

My company did a promo during our convention and I scored a few sleeves of logo-ed warbirds... played them yesterday and shot my lowest round ever - 81.

I definately would have broken 80 if I didn't have my snowman on the 17th. (I went for the $$ shot instead of laying up - hit it fat and ker-plunked it into the swamp)

I really like the feel of the warbird - and I love the fact that I can buy them with the University of Utah logo on them as well! Go Utes!
