Suggestions on keeping the site membership growing 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Ok folks Iike some ideas on how to keep our membership here growing at a good pace. The first week was great and I want to keep it going. What are your suggestions for getting new members to use this great FREE site?

One thing I'm considering is a referral contest. I can put a field in the user profiles called something like "referred by" for poeple to put where they found TGS. The person with the most referrals after X period of time wins some kind of prize (which would hopefully be donated by some kind of sponsor). I have connections for sponsors for sure so I should be able to offer some fun golf stuff.

Any other ideas?

Awesome. That's the idea! Bonus Karma on the way!

Add yourself to the links here if you haven't already.

Your idea of having a map to pin point members is looking good! Another idea is to have something like Microsoft golf, where members could actually participate in cyber golf and compete against others via the web. I have no idea how you could do this, but it would be cool!

Another idea is to set up a section for members who have golf businesses (websites or brick and mortar stores....I have noticed that most other golf community websites discourage business promotion. TGS is unique, and you should let visitors know they have found a business friendly site.

So, there are a couple of idea for whatever they are worth.

Scruffy and his pals are happy they found you!

The map thing is being difficult to figure out. Hopefully soon...

Scruffy there are "business" tabs in each profile for the members to put their busines info and web sites.

There is also a possible module I can add which would allow "user groups" which people could join. So there could be a group called "retailers" or "pga pros" or whatever. That's something I'm looking into...
