Buying New Irons 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hello all:
I want to buy new irons. i've had my set for about ten years now. I've never bought new irons before, can anybody tell me what i should think about before getting new clubs?

I want clubs that will help me have a proper ball flight, and clubs that will help me spin the ball.

Go try different ones at a Golf Store...I went to my PGA Superstore, tried just about everything and was able to see which club I was hitting the best. I had Nike OSS for a year (used set) and hit the Ping G5's better. So, I'm now a Ping girl...thanks to Golfergurl for recommending them. Good luck!!

I would go to a pro golf shop and have them fit you first. Next, see which clubs fit your budget because there are good clubs and then there are great clubs. You know which is the more expensive ones Then hit each one to get the feel and explain to the Pro who is fitting you what your looking for. This should set you up nicely. Good luck and keep us posted.

As Melissa said go to a big store and try 'em out. Don't just go and buy a set cause they're a good deal. The more you hit the more you'll learn about what will work for you......be patient! Ping has the best selection of game improvement, oversized and tour clubs and the best fitting system I've seen. Your local dealer should know how to fit you.

My best advise.....don't scrimp....pay the extra bucks for a good/fit set and you'll avoid buyers remorse. It'll take you some time to get used to them so be patient! They aren't the clubs you've played for 10 years! Technology in clubs is awesome these days and there's a set out there for every type of golfer. Get a good set of irons that fit you and you'll be a happy golfer....buy a "good deal" and you'll get only that.....a good deal.....no performance! My buddy got a set of G-10's and gained 10 yards with every iron. He hit 'em really bad for about a month, now he just loves 'em.

Good luck,
D

Look for a local demo day and try them all. There you can hit them on the range. I'm not big on golf stimulators. I need to see the ball in flight!
