The most important thing you can do for golf fittness is core traning and stretching. If your work out includes that then you are in good shape. I would stay away from heavy weights.

Good tips here, strength training is important, beleive it or not a unique way to do strength training and aerobic at home and have fun is the WII FIT game.

Mental clarity to improve your game is just as important!

Golf can be a physically and mentally challenging sport. Maintaining a high level of energy and stamina often leads to improved play on the links, but grabbing a candy bar or sugar based sports drink at the turn can signal a downward spiral of mental acuity and physical endurance.

The golf swing can be poetry in motion at times, but with so many moving parts of the body, it’s bound to break down and often times, in need of some rehabilitation and repair. Now, you can avoid those nagging injuries to your back and joints with proper nutrition and supplements.

Aches and pains associated with your swing require special care
For most golf professionals, the golf swing is a finely-tuned process whose body parts, most notably, the hands, wrist, arms, back and legs work in concert with one another to produce consistent shots round after round, week after week. However, for the amateur golfer whose coordination of the golf swing falls far short of scratch golfers, improper technique often leads to chronic pain and in some cases an inability to pick up a golf club and play a competitive round with other weekend warriors for long periods of time.

Stay Healthy!

I do strength and core exercises (free motion machine and stability ball) also working on flexibility which helps my shoulder rotation therefore increasing my distance while keeping my accuracy.
