US Open Pairings Good or Bad? 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Most of the golf articles I've read seem to be writing negative reports about the "dream" pairings at the US Open. They said it's for the fans, so are there any fans that are not in favor of these pairings?!

11:06 a.m. - 4:36 p.m. Adam Scott, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods

10:22 a.m. - 3:52 p.m. K.J. Choi, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker

3:52 p.m. - 10:22 a.m. Stewart Cink, Sergio Garcia, Vijay Singh

4:36 p.m. - 11:06 a.m. Justin Rose, Geoff Ogilvy, Ernie Els

This is a good one too:
4:14 p.m. - 10:44 a.m. Ian Poulter, Paul Casey, Luke Donald

The poor guys in front and behind Tiger/Phil/Adam...

Like the U.S. Open needs any more publicity. I'm not in favor of it, just smells like a marketing gimmick, more than anything else. It's not like it's wedges at ten paces, or putters at dawn. And what about crowd control, knowing that a majority of the attendees will be following Adam, Phil and Tiger.

I wonder how these guys will respond to the press, knowing full well they will make an even bigger deal out of these pairings than should be. None the less, this U.S. Open should be interesting, especially with Tiger being touted with home field advantage.

It may be hard to accept, but the PGA and the USGA are interested in $$$$$. These pairings are said to be for the fans, but anyone who believes that is foolish. Golf on TV other than the majors is losing ratings...this sort of pairing at a major is over the top! Have you noticed how much more interesting the golf tournaments have been without Tiger...it has been hard on the Tiger media groupies and the Tiger worshipers...but there ARE other guys who play on the PGA tour. I say put Tiger and Woody or Tiger and Rory together...and let the sparks fly!

Personally I love it. Golf rating are way up when Tiger plays, and putting him with Phil is even better. I think the USGA's purpose should be to promote the game, and I think these pairing are a great way of doing just that.

I am looking forward to watching, but I would watch no matter what the pairing. I think it may draw more "casual" golf viewers.
