Recently upgraded to a new set of irons (x-forged) and have hit them on the range twice and played one round so far. Played Ping ISI's copper for last 12 years so still adjusting. My question is that I'm having a hard time hitting the shorter irons solid, specifically the pitching wedge. hitting the ball off the toe and thin with a slight fade right? I thought it felt shorter at setup the first time I tried it on the range. When I got home, I compared it to my old PW and it is about an inch shorter than my old wedge.
Question. Do you think it's the shorter shaft and it's just gonna take time to adjust or the shaft (rifle flighted Project X 6.0) is too stiff for the shorter irons? BTW, my swing speed ranges from 98 - 105 mph.
This is my first post so nice to meet everyone and I look forward to any input!
This is odd. check the specs of each club and see what the shaft lengths are supposed to be. It may be possible your Pings were built with longer shafts? I doubt the cally would be shorter by default. It could also be a mistake at the cally factory I suppose. I've seen crazier things, like a guy who couldn't hit his new pings and had them checked. He found out they were SEVEN degrees upright.
Just do some digging and I think you'll find the answer.
I compared the the other irons and the only one that is shorter is the PW. Thanks for your response and I will do some digging to figure it out. Thanks!
