Where to golf near Salt Lake City.... 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I am flying out to Salt Lake City in a few weeks to play "Thanksgiving Point" (or something like that), and might have time for 2 other courses.

I know some of you are near there, got any your can recomend?

I also have heard of "Stonebridge", is that one any good?

Well TY since I LIVE in Salt Lake perhaps we'll have to get a round of golf in?

Thanksgiving Point is a "resort" type of course. It's designed by Johnny Miller. Jack Nicklaus and many other players play there once a year in an event.

TP is about the longest course you'll ever play from the back tees. It's like 7800 yards.

What kind of courses do you like to play? There are some great courses here of different types. The one by the airport, Wingpointe, is designed by Aurthur Hills and is probably the only AH design you can play for under $100. In fact with a cart it's about $40.

Stonebridge is a POS, don't play there.

Post edited by: Tony, at: 2006/05/08 03:29

Ahhh I just work for "TY"

I will be in and out only 3 days so it might be hard, plus I'm not quite in control of the where and whens. But when I find out I will sure let you know if we have an opening and if it's local to you...why not !!

TP sounds nice, I have played "Jack's Black" at Los Serranos which is the longest in California, but not as long as TP.

I personally like "Target Golf Courses", short or long, I like water and other big hazards. Well I say thatuntil I lose a dozen balls.

Stongebridge is no good huh, THANKS save me the disapointment HA!!

I'm hoping to get in 9 holes friday, 36 Sat, and 18 on Sun. 4 different courses. But someone else is planning it at this point. So I'll keep you updated just incase it works out....

Thanksgiving Point is the toughest course around. It is designed for tour play. I enjoy playing there and play from the Gold tees at about 7,400 yards. I don't ever expect to score well there, especially on the back nine.

I recommend these courses for the enjoyment of the courses and scenery:

Wasatch Mountain State Park (36)
Hobble Creek
Bountiful Ridge
Valley View
Mountain Dell (36)

Enjoy golf in SLC!

Here is some more SLC info at my site.

Thanks for the great info !!

I have sent a link to this thread to the person whom is planning the tee times.

Hopefully we get in some of these nice courses you have recommended.
