There are colored yardage markers on most courses some I find have a distance written on them some are blank. Are they consistent from course to course? Does a specific color represent the same yardage each time? If so what is it or what are they?

On most of the courses I play there are discs in the fairway.

Yellow = 250 yards
Blue = 200 yards
White = 150 yards
Red = 100 yards

Most of the courses color code their flags too:

Red flag = front of green
White flag = middle of green
Blue flag = back of green

Yeah, I think what Tony said is fairly standard. I have played on courses with blue bird boxes at the 150 and some with a marker like a small shrub or rock. Also most courses that have paved golf cart paths have 200 - 150 - 100 yards marked on them. When in doubt of your yardage, use a bigger club.
