Anyone know about club/metal fatigue? 3 Months ago
Here's the question. How many shots can you hit with today's technology (drivers) before metal fatigue sets in? How many shots or years?

My driver has been a Ping G2 for years, since just before the G5 came out. I've undoubtedly hit thousands of shots with my trusty G2, many bombs. But after hitting a new Bobby Jones today I'm wondering if my trusty G2 is wearing down and losing distance or is it just that the BJ is longer...

Tony,

I have taken club repair course and the instructors have always stated the you show have you clubs replace on your play. You may have to replace the shaft. You should replace your shaft every 1 to 2. The materials in the head now break down do to
the ball you play, were you store the clubs( do to hot and cold, Trunk or club storage area) and how you play( Swing speed and contacting the ground{ Hard, frozen})

A good rule of thumb is to the following:
Long hitter or 3 to 5 rounds a week should replace their clubs every 2 years and shafts one a year.
weekend or 1 to 2 rounds a week - every 2 to 4 years and shafts 1 1/2 to 2. Depending on your swing speed and talent.

I hope this help you out.

I didn't understand your first sentence. But your rules of thumb... HMMM. I'm WAY over on all of those. 4-5 rounds per week and going on 4 years on the entire driver. Swing speed isn't huge, maybe 100-108. Don't really "hit the ground" with my driver and I don't pound range balls all the time.

Sorry miss type, the word "show" is wrong and the world "should" belong in that spot. I did not back space all the way to that word.

Have the shaft tested for flex.
