When did you learn to Draw/Fade? 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I'm a very high handicapper (30+) who is considering buying "game improvement irons". I hear that Nike Slingshots are very forgiving at the expense of "feel" and ability to "shape shots". I'm just trying to get the darned ball in the air. At what point were you able to shape shots. This is another way of me figuring out how long I can use these clubs until I will outgrow them (when I can shape MY shots!). I have a feeling this could be years and that I will get my money's worth out of the Slingshots. I play 10-20 rounds/year, many of them corporate outings (ie scrambles)

Shaping shots is something I don't think a lot of golfers ever really get to anyway. From what I've heard only people that get to a handicap of 10-ish or less get into really shaping their shots on a regular basis.
I think going for the high-forgiveness clubs will be more enjoyable for you and they'll do just fine for you for a long time.
Personally, I have a set of Ben Hogan BH-5 irons which are similar (high-forgiveness, low shot shaping value) but I've still found that I can occassionally shape a shot how I want to. I tend to have natural tendencies to fade shots anyway so it's not hard for me to pull off a shot this way if I want to. Drawing a shot is always tough for me and there's few needs to do it anyway on the courses I play.
Best thing you can do to learn to draw the ball is to go to a pro and get a few lessons.
There are several "bandaids" out there that can help you draw the ball, But then you start hitting those dang German balls when you dont want to.... "hookinfockers" Somepeople can just simply bring their right foot back, and hit a nice little draw.... I wasnt able to draw the ball "on purpose" until I was about a 10-12 handicap... You might try the tee drill... Set up a tee in front of the ball about 3 inches, and out side the ball about an inch... try to clip the tee on your swing.. This causes an in to out swing path, wich causes a real nice draw.... watch out for those German balls though...
